We photographed this house on Walloon Lake for Laurel McAteer of Studio Haven Interiors. This beautiful living room with gorgeous styling is the type of composition that we love to work with. Truly a Northern Michigan masterpiece!
Just stunning. Great feel to this fantastic bedroom in downtown Harbor Springs.
Sunlight sparkles through this shot of a wonderful living room. Photographing at this time of year (winter) allowed us to show the view of Lake Michigan in the distance. This elegant living room was designed by Renee Guthrie Design at the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey, MI. We received a lot of praise from our coach, Tony Colangelo, for capturing the sunlight in the photo!
Great Room in a house designed by Renee Guthrie of Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey, Mi. From the wonderful chandelier, to the impeccable fireplace, and the dog bed designed for this space (lower left hand corner), this room is fantastic!
This is the lake side of the house shown in the previous photo. Dave Kimble of Kimble + Kimble was involved with the original design of the house and multiple renovations. This house has glorious views of Lake Michigan.
A tub with a view. This offset center point photograph shows the great view of Little Traverse Bay and the flow of the room into the master bathroom.
We love taking photos for Renee Guthrie of the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey. The colors she uses are amazing. They have been working on this house from the early 2000's. They keep changing and adding things. The island stove with a range hood is fantastic!
Who's imagination came up with this? A real tree post with a coyote guarding the wet bar for a large log cabin house near Pellston, MI. Of course it was Renee Guthrie of the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey, MI.
We were contracted by Jones - Keena Co. of Birmingham Michigan to photograph the exterior of this home on Lake Michigan in Harbor Springs. It was selected to be a two page spread in the Great Lakes by Design magazine.
Kitchen Nook in a house designed by Renee Guthrie of Lake Street Design Studio. This house was part of a horse farm in Mt. Pleasant on a river. The place was huge and the designs all over were fantastic. Loved shooting this space.
Simple, but beautiful. This was a photograph from our recent Luxury Real Estate class by Wayne Capilli, Tony Colangelo, and Fraser Almeida in Las Vegas during the PMRE conference. This elegant bathroom put our new skills to the test. The goal was to create a photo the showed the lifestyle in this beautiful house.
This is a drone photo of the Jewel Box house all grown up. Kimble + Kimble of Harbor Springs did the architectural and interior design of this house. It was the focus of an article in Traverse Magazine in February, 2021. This photo shows the house with its grown up gardens and Lake Michigan in the background. Rain chains have been added to enhance the Japanese feel. There is a Japanese style stone river running through the garden. The architectural details of the low pitched, hipped, stepped roof with broad overhands draws on the Japanese aesthetic. The progression up to the front door through a garden is typical of Japanese homes. The form and function of the design reminds the owners of the years they spent living in Japan.
Is this really a camp ground? This motorcoach resort near Petoskey has buildings that can be used as the main living space or for guests. We wanted to show the beautiful kitchen that still gives accessibility to the loft sleeping area. The design is by Renee Guthrie of the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey, MI.
This photo was a collaboration between me (taking the photo of this wonderfully designed room) and Debbie Brown of Ripples Cards in Harbor Springs (she created and placed the AI Kitty in the photo). The pastel colors of the furniture and walls of this bedroom really caught our eye. It was designed by Kathleen Serra for a long term rental house in Harbor Springs.
Back to the luxury motorcoach resort near Petoskey. We wanted to show the roof covered patio that leads out to a water space.
We were told the names of the two deer were "Smith" and "Wesson". A tilt-shit lens enabled us to produce this photo from above while keeping everything in perspective.
This single point photo highlights the different levels of the his and hers sinks. The designer's imagination was able to solve a large height difference between spouses and keep the room beautiful!!!
This is the exterior of a new home in the True North Golf Club. We photographed the house for Renee Guthrie and the Lake Street Design Studio.
We could not believe this was a vacation rental home. Located on the True North Golf Club property. The owner gave us the key and told us to take photos that would help them rent the property. We took every opportunity to take shots like this.
Looking into the wet room of this master bathroom in a home on True North Golf Club designed by Renee Guthrie of Lake Street Design Studio. Note - the specially designed towels came in after the photo was taken. But, we were able to Photoshop them on to the towel warmer.
Unbelievable powder room by Renedd Guthrie of the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey. I have passed this house many times while golfing at Birchwood Farms Golf and CC. I always thought I would love to photograph it and finally got the chance.
This photo shows the designer's careful layout of the marble island top that leads the eye to the beautiful stove and metallic backsplash below the hood.
I love this office. A live edge wood top desk that can be raised to be a standing desk matches the modern country look of the shelving unit. Great fun! This house was constructed on the site of a house that burned down several years before. The owners were vacationing in Petoskey, MI where they discovered the Lake Street Design Studio and Renee Guthrie. They selected Renee to design the interiors of this rebuilt house.
What to do with the space on a balcony overlooking a large great room? This designer developed an extremely comfortable sitting room. With this photo we wanted to show how the colors fit together in the room and also draw in the wood ceiling.
Pendant lamps hanging over the vanity in a great master bathroom imagined and designed by Renee Guthrie of the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey, MI. This house was one of her first big projects. She got to design it the first time, then years later the client asked for a re-design.
This Hans J Wegner Mid Century Modern Shell Chair is a classic! This is in a home in Harbor Springs, MI. The restoration was designed both architecturally and interior design by Dave and Caroline Kimble, of Kimble + Kimble in Harbor Springs. This project was particularly difficult because it required combining four individual apartments back into a single home.
The designer of this kitchen had to blend in the fabulous Blue Star oven and stove with the matching hood. The butcher block island was the perfect match for this contemporary kitchen in the wooded Northern Michigan. (and do not leave out the salamander oven!)
Our Creative Director wanted to try to produce a more moody look to a photo. We were able to get this shot of the steps, kitchen, fireplace and dining room of the Jewel box house from our first Traverse Magazine article from February, 2021. We also took the black and white photo of the trillium in the photo by the stairs.
This is one of our favorite photos. This house is on the shores of Lake Charlevoix near the Ironton Ferry. We worked to emphasize the wood used for the ceiling, walls and floor (and the painting that is reflected in the mirror).
This photo was one of the photos used by Traverse Magazine in their Northern Home and Cottage section. It was the first time we were published in a magazine. We photographed it for Kimble + Kimble, an interior design and architecture firm located in Harbor Springs, MI.
This photo required lots of blending in post to make it possible to see the very beautiful tile in this master bath in Harbor Springs, Michigan. The design was created by Dave and Caroline Kimble of Kimble + Kimble in Harbor Springs.
We photographed this beautiful kitchen for a client in Ann Arbor, MI. The custom cabinets came from Wolverine Cabinet Company in Petoskey, MI. The designer is Laurel McAteer of Studio Haven in Walloon, MI.
Every home office needs a moose. We loved photographing the features of this home in Harbor Springs, MI.
We wanted to make it look like you could walk right into this photo. The rustic woods used to construct this luxurious house located in Birchwood Farms and Country Club in Harbor Springs, MI really make you reel at home.
Smaller homes can be luxurious too. They can bring challenges to the photo process. Careful setup followed by delicate editing (and using apps that show where the sun will be) can produce photos like this.
The engineering behind this centrally located fireplace is difficult to comprehend. It is magnificent and was extremely fun to photograph.
Twilight photograph of a beautiful house on Lake Michigan near Petoskey, MI.
Master Bedroom with a view of Crooked Lake near Alanson, MI. The design of the backboard was incredible.
We needed to use our tilt/shift lens to capture the grandeur of this magnificent great room of a house on the shores of Lake Michigan near Charlevoix. Our photos helped the owner sell this home for almost $4 million.
Some times the design details call for a vignette. Comfortable, colorful chairs are highlighted by the view of Torch Lake in the background.
This photo gave us the opportunity to edit several photos from the same shot. The owner wanted her horse in the photo (therefore this shot). We were also able to crop it to highlight the Stone Forest sink and the Hubbardton lighting.
Love the bathtub in the shower concept. This gorgeous master bath was in a condo on Crooked Lake near Alanson, MI.
An amazing house designed completely by both Caroline and Dave Kimble of Kimble + Kimble in Harbor Springs.
A barn door opens to a small TV room with views of Lake Charlevoix. Very comfy and cozy.
This is the street side of a large home located in Petoskey, MI.
Color, we have your colors! Is it a Zen Room or a Sitting Room. You decide.
We really liked this kitchen in a house on Lake Charlevoix. We had to do some editing work. There were baskets and other things on the top shelf above the oven and the designer did not want these in the photo. And, the owner did not want the exact latitude and longitude shown so we changed the numbers.
Is this the best selling feature of this luxury home that was for sell in the Charlevoix area? Maybe not, but it was close to the top.
House Renovation on Steroids - One of our clients designed this house renovation. The old home had been split into three separate apartments. The new owners wanted it made back into a single home. This space required a lot of imagination. A very long kitchen island, starting with a live edge table and ending with a very nice bar under the steps. Dave and Caroline Kimble of Kimble + Kimble in Harbor Springs collaborated to bring this reconstruction together. Dave handled the architectural design and Caroline the interior design. It turned out amazing.
We photographed this lovely kitchen in a house on the shores of Walloon Lake for Laurel McAteer of Studio Haven Interiors.
